Unreliable power sources in villages can seriously impede a child's ability to study. The villages in the Ranbir Singh Pura district of Jammu and Kashmir experience frequent power cuts, lasting for five to six hours at a time. With no inverters or other back-up sources, it is a struggle for the local children to dedicate themselves to learning.
As a part of our mission, we distributed solar lanterns to children in six villages. Solar lanterns are cost-effective, rechargeable and sustainable.
